Q: - Is ShastaCAD the same as AutoCAD?
A: - ShastaCAD is not the same as AutoCAD. AutoCAD was created for architects and engineers. ShastaCAD has merged AutoCAD's power to provide a total solution for the pool and spa industry with commands designed specifically for pool builders.
Q: - Can I create 3D renderings with ShastaCAD?
A: : - ShastaCAD does not create 3D renderings. However, there are complementary products that can add this functionality. Speak with a ShastaCAD representative for details.
Q: - If I already own a copy of AutoCAD, can I use ShastaCAD with it?
A: - At this time, ShastaCAD can not be incorporated into AutoCAD. ShastaCAD is a highly customized version of AutoCAD. There are several shortcuts and customized commands that could be programmed in AutoCAD, but it would be a very time consuming process.

Sufficient swap space is also required to handle the installation of ShastaCAD and files the user wishes to save to the hard drive. Additional memory and/or a faster processor will improve performance.
Q: - Can I use existing hand drawings or plot plans in ShastaCAD?
A: - Yes. ShastaCAD allows the designer to insert scanned images or any other digital image one may have to the computer. Once inserted into ShastaCAD, the designer can scale the image appropriately and then design the property or pool from that initial drawing.
